How the complete draw works
Add one participant per line, with at least three and no more than 100 people.
Complete before the first reveal: WheelSays fixes the entire assignment before anyone starts revealing. It checks that every participant appears exactly once as a giver and exactly once as a recipient, with no self-assignment.
The draw is not built or changed as the phone moves from person to person. For a different kind of random choice, use the WheelSays decision wheel or make groups with the Random Team Generator.
Why every name must be distinguishable
Secret Santa needs an unambiguous person at each reveal. Labels that differ only by case or equivalent Unicode forms are treated as duplicates here. Two people both entered as Alex would not know which reveal belongs to them.
Use a unique label: Add a surname initial, nickname, or another useful qualifier such as Alex P. The visible spelling you enter is kept.
This stricter rule applies only to Secret Santa. Duplicate entries still work normally in the wheel and team generator when they represent separate chances or separate people.
Pass the device without exposing the list
The reveal sequence follows the roster order.
- Pass: Before a reveal, the screen names only the person who should hold the device.
- Reveal: After that person chooses to reveal, only their recipient appears. The name remains visible until they choose Hide and continue, with no timer or automatic disappearance.
- Keep a private copy: The current participant may copy one sentence or download one PNG card containing only their assignment.
Previous and future assignments are not shown. The completed screen never displays a master list.
What is saved and what remains temporary
A named roster can be saved deliberately in this browser and reused later.
- Saved: participant names only.
- Temporary: assignments and reveal progress. Refreshing, closing, or leaving the page discards the in-memory draw.
- Controlled by the participant: copied text and a downloaded card. WheelSays does not store either output.
A shared device is not a cryptographic security boundary. There are no blocked pairings, household exclusions, remote reveals, or organiser assignment history in this version.
